Should men pee after sex?
So, we all know that women are advised to pee (or urinate) after sex to flush out any harmful bacteria. But, how about men, should they also pee after sex? Is it necessary or beneficial in any way? Let’s talk about it…
Well, the truth is that men do not need to urinate after sex.
This is because, unlike women, men’s urethras are longer and this means that there’s little chance for bacteria from the genital area to reach the bladder.
During sex, bacteria can pass from the genitals to the urethra, which can then travel to the bladder and cause a UTI. As mentioned, men have the advantage of a long urethra thus the risk of getting infections is much lower.
In addition to this, men pee through the urethra so any bacteria present is flushed out.
