Confused woman holding phone

Is it possible for men to fake orgasms?

Many men have faked an orgasm at least once. People often assume it’s impossible for men to fake as it means pretending to ejaculate, too. So how do they do it?

Many women admit to have faked an orgasm at some point. Yet we rarely focus on men but as it turns out, men do it too! Love Matters asked 27 men if they have faked an orgasm and 11 said they have faked an orgasm at least once.

So yes, it is possible for men to fake orgasms too!

Harder, faster…

Men are likely to moan less often than women when they were faking it. They rely on body movements like thrusting harder and faster or clenching their muscles as if they were about to ‘come.’

Others simply acted like they were spent or tired. A few guys simply told their partner ‘I’m coming baby, I’m coming!’

While it’s plausible that he can fake his orgasms, can he really pretend to cum? By all accounts, it’s pretty difficult. So as a guy you’ve got to have a work-around – faking it in a condom.

One man admitted to moaning and then acting quite tired. He says he then disposed of the condom before his partner could get a good look at it.

He’s not alone as many men who have faked it resorted to quickly removing, discarding, or hiding their condom to cover their evidence of faking it.

The number one reason why men put on the extra theatrics is because they didn’t think they’d make a climax because they were too drunk, it was taking to long, or they’d already come that day.

Other reasons given by men were that they wanted sex to end because they were tired or they didn’t want to hurt their partner’s feelings.

Sex = intercourse = orgasm

Both men and women are most likely to fake their orgasms when having sexual intercourse and not during other forms of sex. Pretenders tend to think sex means intercourse, and intercourse should end in orgasms all around.

This makes them feel under pressure to climax.

Some people feel sex is always supposed to follow the same script: ‘she orgasms, then he orgasms, then sex is over’.

This makes women think they have to pretend to orgasm so their partner can take his turn to climax.

In the end, it is clear that both men and women feel pressured to show pleasure to keep their partners happy. And it’s this cliched script for sex that keeps people faking it instead of working together for the real thing.

    1. Hi Susan,

      Hi Susan,
hm, we can kind of see where you are coming from. But on the other hand, you could also just be honest and tell him that it’s not happening for you today. Or ask him to pay attention to your favorite areas.
Sex is about communication- unless he knows what turns you on, he can’t be blamed for you getting bored!

Dear Lizy, sorry about this, sex should be pleasurable for both partners. It appears that you and your partner do not spend sufficient time in foreplay. It is important that you talk to your partner and let him know what your experience has been. Sex is better when partners talk about it, try find a good time and talk with your partner. Let him know what you like including spending time in foreplay and also allow him to share with you what they like. Have a look at the following articles for more tips;-

    1. Hi George,

      Hi George,
we are not quite sure what you mean… Do you mean how can you know she is faking it?
First of all, ask the woman what you can do to make her have an orgasm. Very woman is different, but paying plenty of attention to the clitoris will almost guarantee some pleasure! Check out our making love section.
Then, it’s talking again. Ask her if she is enjoying it and if she is having orgasms.
Lastly, in most women, the vagina will get tighter at the moment of orgasms. This not happening could be a sign that she is faking it. But again, asking usually works best!

    1. Hi Daniella,

      Hi Daniella,
      sorry to hear that!
Faking orgasms often seems like the easiest way. Sometimes it’s just not happening, other times you are too tired, or he is taking too long… And then you just fake it. Understandable in a way, but it won’t do your relationship any good. I suggest you tell him what you like in bed, what makes you have an orgasm. Don’t tell him you have been faking it; suggest it as a way you enjoy sex more. For example, tell him to pay lots of attention to your clitoris during foreplay. Or to try oral sex (seriously, it’s amazing). Or try to have him stroke your clitoris while you are on top. It’s really hard for women to have an orgasm with intercourse alone, it’s just not enough stimulation for the clitoris. And by the way, if you don’t know what turns you on, you better learn and teach him. Good luck and let us know how it all works out. 1. Hi Lizy, sorry about this…

Hi Lizy, sorry about this. Pain during sex can be caused by a number of reasons including having dry sex where intercourse or penetration happens before the vagina is sufficiently lubricated. It can also be caused by the position during sex or the presence of an infection in the vagina. It is important to spend sufficient time in foreplay to get the vagina to lubricate or use artificial lubrication so as to avoid dry sex. Changing positions may also help address the cause of the pain. Have a look at the following article for more information;-

Hi Nebert, since most women will not have an orgasm through vaginal intercourse only, it is necessary to make the clitoris which is one of the most sensitive parts part of your love making. One may have to stroke it or lick it. Check out this article for more tips;-
