Long distance relationships

Long-distance relationships mean that you aren’t living with your partner because you are in different places. This means you can’t see each other often.

If you live in Nairobi and your partner lives in Lagos, for example, you're in a long-distance relationship.

Relationships can go long distance for many reasons. It could be because your partner has found a new job in a different city or country or because you've started studying at a university far from home.

Today, long-distance relationships are becoming more common because of modern forms of communication. Emails, chats, video chats, and social media make it much easier for people to stay in touch. You can even have sex on the internet with your partner to keep the spark alive while you're apart.

Before you go long-distance, it might be a good idea to think about how your relationship will change. For one thing, there’ll be long stretches with no kissing, holding hands, or sex. You won't get to see and talk to each other in person for long periods of time.

If you can, try it for a while and see how it works out before you make a serious commitment.

Am in a long distance relationship but I have a feeling that my boyfriend is cheating, how can I deal with this please help because am getting worried
Hi Yvonne. Making a long distance relationship work can be a challenge. There is however no way to know for sure if your partner is cheating on you. The best thing to do is try to communicate with your partner. Be honest with them about your suspicions and your feelings along with your fears. I know this can be scary to bring it up but try to just tell them why you suspect something is wrong and not just accuse them to be a cheater. Generally if we hold on to our thoughts you might take things the wrong way believe something without knowing if it is real or not. We wish you well.
This is the disadvantage of being in a distance relationship if you are not yet ready to face the challenges, if you are sure he is not faithful why are you still concentrating on him? Open your eyes and see well.

Hello Estherwilly, Long distance relationships can be challenging to manage but communication is one of the essential elements that help to strengthen the relationship. At this stage of your relationship, it is important to share with your partner what your expectations are of him including what you would like interms of communication. It may improve your communication if he know what you want or expect. Also, remember communication takes two and you can also initiate communication when he hasn't. Even a text counts. Hi Jossy, If he is already married, are you OK being a second wife? Remember if he is cheating on his wife with you, he may also cheat on you with someone else. Take time and think about what kind of relationship you want and what kind of partner you are looking for then make an informed decision.
